* officially …

Koo Park (he/him) is an actor currently based in Seattle. He was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. He came to the US in 2019. He recently received his MFA in Acting from the Professional Actor Training Program (PATP) at the University of Washington.

* off-the-record …

On the very first day of Koo’s freshman year at college—as soon as a professor wrote down all the bizarre yet picturesque Arabic alphabets on the chalk board, he immediately knew that this cannot be his thing. That day, he dashed into the Student Center building desperately seeking for any student club to willingly devote his time instead of his major. By the stairs, there was a theatre club. The door opened and a bunch of cool—and tall—guys walked out of the room probably talking s***s like, “how fucked up was I last night?” I don’t know. But I do know that’s when it all started.
Maybe the 5’7 nerdy boy dreamed of being something cooler and bigger than himself. Or maybe he just needed friends and wanted to surround himself with people.
He was always happy when making theatre as it gathered people and he could become a one of the team. Then, spending more time on stage meeting audience, he started to see the power of storytelling. And how fun it is to tell people a story, especially the unsung ones. Maybe he thought himself is one of the unsung. Because the dream that he dreamt on that day in front of the club room door is still ongoing.

* miscellaneous …

Koo is a writer, sometimes. He recently wrote a solo-show named Let Me Hamlet. It is a monologue of a 45 years old actor who has been yearning to play the lead Hamlet but ended up with playing Horatio for 12 years in a tour production of Hamlet.
